MAY/JUNE

  • Stamp Out Hunger - Letter CarriersLETTER CARRIER’S FOOD DRIVE -
    Saturday, May 9th, 2009

    Watch for your notice from the Post Office in your mail! Please leave a donation of nonperishable food by your mailbox. Your letter carrier will pick up your donation for the Food Bank. Volunteers with covered trucks or vans are needed to:
    • Transport food from the post offices to the Food Bank (you must be 18 or older, have an excellent driving record, and a covered truck or van)
    • Greet Letter Carriers and load food at post offices
    • Unload trucks and sort food at the Food Bank
    Join in this countywide event! If you would like to help, please call the food bank at 415-883-1302 to sign up!

  • NAVE'S GOLF TOURNAMENT - Wednesday, May 20, 2009
    Nave’s is hosting their annual golf tournament at the San Geronimo Golf Club on Wednesday, May 20, 2009.  Tee-off at 1:00 p.m., scramble format.  Show your support and sponsor a hole for $100.00, donate a raffle prize or buy raffle tickets.  All raffle and sponsor proceeds benefit the Food Bank.   • GASPARE’S RISTORANTE-BAR
    2ND ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT -
    June 1, 2009
    Join us for a great time benefiting two great causes:  The Marin Food Bank & Greyhound Adoption Center.   Monday, June 1, 2009 at Indian Valley Golf Course.  Tee times start at 11:00 a.m., scramble format.  Dinner at Gaspare’s after the game at 6:30 p.m., no host bar.  $95.00 per person includes:  18 holes w/cart, box lunch, one raffle ticket, one cap or visor. 
    Last day to sign up is:  May 10, 2009.

OCTOBER:

  • “Trick or Treat so others can Eat!” October through December
    Bon Air Center in Greebrae will host their annual food drive “Trick or Treat so others can Eat!” beginning on Halloween, October 31st and will continue running through December 31st. Drop off locations include: CVS Pharmacy, Molly Stones, Peet’s Coffee, The Ranch of Bon Air, and all banking institutions located at the center.

 

NOVEMBER/DECEMBER:

  • GREAT TURKEY - The Great Turkey - Corte Madera Town Center
    October 23rd–December 31st

    This colorful talking turkey, built by John Lister and the folks at Lucasfilm, is over 16 feet tall and roosts at the Corte Madera Town Center during the holiday season. If you would like to donate, take canned foods to the Turkey. He will thank you for your donation! Kids of all ages love the Turkey. Please do not donate expired foods or food in glass containers.
  • ABC 7 & SAFEWAY FOOD DRIVE - November 8th - January 1st
    This holiday season, ABC7 and Safeway will be publicizing the "Thanksgiving Food Drive".  This annual promotion encourages the donation of $250 or more to all Bay Area Food Banks.  Our food bank will designate this money to purchase meat items for our holiday boxes.  For more information on donating, please call our office at 415-883-1302.
  • KFOG Live from the Archives 15KFOG LIVE FROM THE ARCHIVES 16-
    KFOG Live from the Archives 16 will release on Saturday, November 7th at Bay Area Peet’s Coffee & Tea locations and online at www.kfog.com. Proceeds will benefit Bay Area Food Banks. With expected sales this year, Fogheads will have donated over $4,000,000!




  • SCOUTING FOR FOOD - Saturday, November 21st
    this event has been held for twenty years and is a major asset for the food bank programs. Local boy scouts will be picking up food throughout Marin County. Door hangers are provided to residents in designated pickup areas.

    • If you received a door hanger, your food donations will be picked up on Nov. 21st after 9:00 am.
    • If you didn't receive a door hanger and would like to participate in the food drive, you can drop off your non-perishable food donations at your local fire station.
  • If you are in a designated area and your food is not picked up by the scouts, you may bring the food to your local fire station or directly to the food bank before 2:00 pm on Nov. 21st or Mon.-Fri. between 8:30-4:30.

  • NBC/CVS Food Drive - Saturday, Nov. 21st
    Please bring your non-perishable food donations to any CVS/pharmacy location in Marin on Sat., Nov. 21st. Collection barrels will be onsite along with our cherished volunteers providing information about our services.
  • HOLIDAY FOOD DRIVE - November 1st through December 31st we collect food donations and pack approximately 3500 food boxes for distribution to needy families during Thanksgiving, Chanukah and Christmas. Chanukah boxes will be kosher. Please do not donate expired foods or food in glass containers. Call 415-883-1302 for info about how we can work together!

  • Iron Springs Pub Give Back Tuesday - December 2009
    Iron Springs Pub & Brewery will once again sponsor the food bank through
    their "Give Back Tuesday" event. Dine at Iron Springs on any Tuesday
    throughout the month of December and 5% of the proceeds for that day will be donated to the food bank. Iron Springs Pub is located at: 765 Center Blvd., Fairfax, CA. Phone: 415-485-1005.
  • BREAKFAST WITH SANTA - Saturday, December 5th
    Join Santa for breakfast at Applebee’s at Northgate Mall from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.  Tickets are limited, and pre-event tickets, at $3.00 per person can be purchased at Guest Services at Northgate.

    Day of the event tickets will be $5.00 per person (if still available).  Proceeds from this event will benefit Marin Food Bank

  • NAVES CHRISTMAS PARTY - Saturday, December 12th, 7:00pm

  • Food DropGestalt Haus and MCBC present
    Crank for the Bank, a bicycle food drive for Marin Community Food Bank -

    Saturday, Dec. 19 Noon – 3 pm
    Meet at the Fairfax Cyclery parking lot at 2020 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. with your bike, a large messenger bag, backpack, panniers or trailer; and $15 - $30 cash. You will be given a list of stores and items to collect for the Marin Community Food Bank.

    Head out by yourself or with a group, round up the supplies, and head back to Fairfax's Gestalt Haus for prizes! Be sure to take a look at the route to strategize the best course and keep your receipts, as prizes will be awarded to those who finish first and those who bring in the most stuff. There will be other prizes awarded, so everyone has a chance of winning something!

  • ANNUAL FUND DRIVE - Month of December This once-yearly fund drive helps support our work for the coming twelve months, as most of our support comes directly from our community. We always try very hard to make you proud of how we serve the community in your name. Please send your financial contribution to Marin Food Bank, 75 Digital Drive, Novato, CA 94949. You may donate by Visa or Mastercard by either calling the Food Bank or click on the Donate Online option at the bottom of this page.
  • CHRISTMAS CAN TREE - Christmas Can Tree - Northgate Mall, Terra Linda
    November 23rd–January 3rd,2010

    The Christmas Cantree has returned to Northgate. It is located at the theater entrance in the Food Court.

    All good little boys and girls, regardless of your ages, can earn extra credit with Santa, by bringing non-perishable food to place on the tree!   Marin Food Bank will use your donated food to provide for those in need during the holidays and into 2010.  The Food Bank provides food to those in need through a network of Marin non-profit agencies all year long.

    The tree will be up and accepting food and financial contributions through January 2, 2010.  Thank you for your support.
